Your First Visit
1. Comprehensive Examination:
We need to know your medical history to examine your teeth and gums in order to develop your personal treatment plan. A dental hygienist starts this process. He or she will do a preliminary examination of your mouth, including an oral cancer screening. X-rays will be taken which the dentist will use to diagnose the condition of your mouth. In conjunction with the notes made by the hygienist one of the dentists will look at your mouth and complete the evaluation. Afterwards the appointment clerk will schedule a Treatment Consultation so that we can discuss what services are needed.
2. Treatment Consultation and Financial Counseling:
Using the information from the comprehensive examination your dentist will develop a treatment plan. That plan lists in priority order the services that you need. During the Treatment Consultation, the Treatment Plan Coordinator will review with you the services that need to be performed. This would be a good time to discuss any concerns or preferences you have. Your Treatment Plan Coordinator will discuss the cost of your dental procedures and review any insurance benefit estimates. We accept several methods of payment and will review those with you. Financial counseling takes place the same day as the Treatment Consultation, and takes about 30 minutes. At the end of the meeting the Treatment Plan Coordinator will be more than happy to schedule your initial treatment appointment.
3. Treatment Begins:
Treatment may take place over one visit or multiple visits—depending upon the services that are needed. The dentist will complete the services you needed, aided by a dental assistant. FinancialAs with any service, you are responsible for paying for the service you receive. If you have dental insurance coverage, a portion of the treatment fee may be paid by your carrier. Insurance plans vary on what services they cover, and what they pay for those services. Our financial counselor will talk with you prior to treatment to discuss the cost of dental procedures and any estimated insurance benefit.
